On Tuesday, December 17th, representatives from WSFS Bank presented the pediatric department at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital three giant stockings filled with children’s gifts. Each stocking contains about 20 toys, including stuffed animals, coloring books, puzzles and games. The gifts will be given to the patients while they are in the hospital and when they go home, they are able to take their presents with them.

“Children who have activities that can take their minds off their illnesses heal more quickly,” said Nancy Oyerly, Director of Maternal and Child Health at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.  She added “keeping kids active helps aids with their recovery and helps them get back to what they normally do and in turn, they focus less on any pain they may have.”

This is the third year that WSFS has made the stocking donation to Nanticoke.  The five-year-old program is part of WSFS’s effort to donate to the communities that it serves.   The pediatric department at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital accepts donations of new toys and new and gently used books to give to its patients.  To arrange a donation, call the Foundation Office at 302-629-6611, ext. 8944.
