A 35-year-old Lincoln man faces drug charges after police say they found more than 2,000 bags in his car on Christmas Eve.

Donald R. Hester was driving a 2001 Cadillac Seville at 9:10 p.m. Dec. 24 in Millsboro when he turned from West Dupont Boulevard onto Wharton Street without using a turn signal, said Cpl. John Day of the Delaware State Police.

A trooper activated his lights to pull Hester over, but Hester sped away to a parking lot off of Houston Street, Day said.

When the trooper spotted Hester in the parking lot, Hester again tried to drive away, but the trooper blocked the exit with his car.

Police searched the parking lot and found two bags – one with 2,292 bags of heroin weighing 34.38 grams and another with 119 grams of marijuana.

A search of the car uncovered 46 grams of marijuana and $2,312. Police found $1,977 in Hester's pants pocket, Day said.

Hester was charged with two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 5 quantity, possession of marijuana, three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and traffic charges.

He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $65,802 secured bond.
