Downtown Milford Inc.'s public art project, Art on the Riverwalk Tour, received a boost with a $3,000 award from the Beer and Benevolence Fund at Dogfish Head Brewery in Milton.
“We are honored to receive this generous award,” said Lee Nelson, DMI executive director. “They had a strong field of contenders apply, so we are delighted they saw such value in this project.”
Dogfish Head Brewery awarded three prizes to Sussex County nonprofits in the categories of art, community and ecology. DMI won the art category.
An additional $1,000 will be awarded to the winner that brings the most people to the event night held at Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats, 320 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach. DMI’s night is 5 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 22. In addition, 10 percent of total sales during the night will be donated to DMI.
DMI will be selling raffle tickets for prizes during the event as an additional fundraiser.
The project's goal is to make downtown Milford a more vibrant, enjoyable and fun place to work, live, play and shop. The award is in addition to a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts toward the second phase of public art works to be located along the Riverwalk. The project features replicas of the classic yacht Augusta, built in Milford in 1927, placed along the Riverwalk.
