Delaware Eye Surgery Center celebrates milestones

January 14, 2014

Delaware Eye Surgery Center recently celebrated completion of its 25,000th surgical procedure in its 10th year of operation. It is also celebrating its recent accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.

“Ten years ago, we dreamed of providing our community with a new level of specialized eye care. It’s gratifying to hit a threshold like 25,000 procedures,” said David Robinson, MD, medical director.

“Equally rewarding is our extremely low infection rate over this 10-year period. At 0.04 percent, our rate is 17 times below the national average,” Robinson said.

He continued, “That low rate, along with our recent accreditation, is due in large part to the diligence of our dedicated and specialized nursing staff. Many of our nurses have over 25 years of eye surgery experience. We are proud to have them care for our patients.”

Status as an AAAHC-accredited organization means the Delaware Eye Surgery Center passed an on-site survey of its facilities and services. The survey tests the center on a series of rigorous and nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality healthcare.

The Delaware Eye Surgery Center specializes in cataract, glaucoma, oculoplastic and laser surgery. It is the only local freestanding ambulatory surgery center offering outpatient retina surgery. Visit www.delawareeye.com for more information.
