Delmarva Hand Dance Club hosts Christmas dinner

Club meets each Wednesday, welcomes new members
January 15, 2014

Decorated in a Winter Wonderland theme compliments of Peaky's Restaurant, the Delmarva Hand Dance Club sponsored a Christmas dinner party in late December as a way of thanking members who help raise money for local charities on the Eastern Shore throughout the year.

Peaky's, on the eighth floor of the Fenwick Inn in Ocean City, Md., hosts meetings every Wednesday with free lessons at 5:30 p.m. for one hour and dancing until 9 p.m., special dinners and extended happy hour. There is a $5 entrance fee which is used for donations. All board members are volunteers.

Hand dancing is a style of dance featured on two of the local teen dance programs of the 1950s and '60s, the Milt Grant Show in Washington, D.C., and the Buddy Deane Show in Baltimore. Hand dancing is characterized by gliding footwork, continuous hand connection, and communication between the dance partners.
