Ronald H. Koons, avid fisherman

Ronald H. Koons, 76, of Millsboro passed away Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at his home. Ronnie was the husband of Linda (Sechrist) Koons. Together they shared more than 50 years of marriage.

A memorial service is slated for 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 25, at Long Neck United Methodist Church off Long Neck Road.

A celebration of life tribute service was held Dec. 5 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory Inc., Red Lion, Pa. with his associate pastor, the Rev. John Schutt officiating. Burial was in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard.

Ronnie was born in York, Pa. April 16, 1937, a son of the late Russell and Marie Koons. He was a 1955 graduate of Red Lion Area High School. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Navy for four years. Mr. Koons worked as a machine shop operator at Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1992. Ronnie and Linda then moved to their home to the Rehoboth area where they have enjoyed life at the beach for the past 20 years. Ronnie was an avid hunter and fisherman, and especially enjoyed working at the Rattle & Reel Bait and Tackle Shop in Long Neck.

In addition to his wife, Linda, Ronnie is survived by two sisters, Joan Wise of Red Lion and Alsetta Doll of York; a sister-in-law, Norma Payne of Red Lion; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Long Neck United Methodist Church, 32051 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, DE 19966.
