Delmarva Power customers warned of scam

January 14, 2014

Rehoboth Beach police are warning residents and local businesses about a scam involving Delmarva Power.

A local business owner told police that someone called him saying they were with the Delmarva Power disconnection center, said Lt. William L. Sullivan of the Rehoboth Beach Police Department.

The person said the business must purchase two $500 gift cards and provide the person with the numbers in order to avoid a service disconnection, Sullivan said.

No one from Delmarva Power is involved in the phone calls requesting gift card payments, Sullivan said.

Anyone with more information on this is asked to call Sullivan at 227-2577.
