Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration kicks off with parade in Lewes Jan. 18

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Organization has announced that the theme for this weekend's 50-year anniversary celebration is "Remembering the Past; Planning the Future."

The weekend kicks off with the annual parade in Lewes at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 18, lining up at the 9th Grade Academy and proceeding to Second Street.  For more information contact Alphonso Miller, 227-3531.

The banquet will be held at 4:30 p.m. that afternoon at Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes.  The keynote speaker is the Rev. Dr. Voncent P. Oliver of New Calvary Baptist Church in Wilmington.  Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for children ages 12 and under.  No tickets will be sold at the door.  For details call Janie Miller at 227-3118.

The Monday Holiday Worship Service on Jan. 20 will be held at 10 a.m. at Conley's UM Church, off Camp Arrowhead Road west of Lewes.  The messenger will be the Rev. Dr. Patricia Green from Mt.
