Cape Henlopen Food Basket appreciates support

January 18, 2014

The Board of the Cape Henlopen Food Basket, volunteers, and those we serve would like to thank all of the people in our community, and beyond, for the donations you have given to help us support those in need.

We provide needy families a 10-day supply of canned and frozen food, as well as a voucher that allows them to receive fresh milk, eggs, margarine and bread.  They may return three times in a three-month period then they are referred to the Delaware State Social Services for further evaluation and if merited, a referral for more food is given by the agency.  No one is ever turned away.  If someone lives out of the Cape Henlopen School District, we give them an emergency bag and directions to a food pantry in the area where they live.

During the past year, we have served 2,790 households and 8,019 individuals.  During the month of December, we served 265 households and 713 individual.

Please know that we sincerely appreciate all you do for those in need in the Cape Henlopen District.
