First State Dance Academy students win awards at regional competitions

Free performance Jan. 26 at Milford Senior Center

Local students from the First State Dance Academy in Milford received several awards during competitions and auditions held Jan. 11 and 12.

Taylor Hogan of Milford placed in the top 12 in the Junior Division in the Youth American Grand Prix competition in Philadelphia, Pa.

Katie Fields of Seaford received a High Gold at the New York City Dance Alliance competition in Baltimore, Md.

Owen Lawson of Milton received a High Gold at the NYCDA competition and was a Triple Threat Award winner along with being accepted to the Summer Dance Intensive in New York, N.Y.

Two students of FSDA, Taylor Hogan and Glory Tucker of Milford, also auditioned and were accepted to the Rock School of Dance Education in Pennsylvania. Hogan received a full scholarship to its five-week summer program from the director, Bo Spassoff.

Their solo showcases will be featured at a free public performance of FSDA's Mid Year Dance Concert at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 26, at the Milford Senior Center, Milford. Volunteers will pass the hat for donations to help raise money for the senior center.
