Beebe Healthcare Home Care Services Named to the Top 500 of the 2013 HomeCare Elite

January 20, 2014

Beebe Healthcare Home Care Services today announced that it has been named to the Top 500 of the 2013 HomeCare Elite, which recognizes the top-performing home health agencies in the United States. Now in its eighth year, the HomeCare Elite identifies the top 25 percent of agencies and highlights the top 100 and top 500 agencies overall. Winners are ranked by an analysis of publicly available performance measures in quality outcomes, best practice (process measure) implementation, patient experience (Home Health CAHPS®), quality improvement and consistency, and financial performance. In order to be considered, an agency must be Medicare-certified and have data for at least one outcome in Home Health Compare. Out of 9,969 agencies considered, 2,496 are elite.

The award is sponsored by OCS HomeCare by National Research Corporation, the leading products for home health metrics and analytics, and DecisionHealth, publisher of the most respected independent newsletter in the home care profession, Home Health Line.

“The 2013 HomeCare Elite winners demonstrate a commitment to providing patient-centered care and serving as leaders in the home health community. Their success is a tribute that managing healthcare data and utilizing it for improvement initiatives lead to high quality care, and we recognize them for their outstanding achievements,” said Mary Oakes, senior vice president of post-acute at National Research. We congratulate Beebe Healthcare Home Care Services on being one of the top 500 home care agencies in the country.”

Beebe Home Care Services serves patients throughout southern Delaware and has received the highest patient satisfaction scores in Delaware, according to the U.S. Government rating system.

It has a team of highly skilled nurses, occupational and physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, medical social workers, nutritionists, and certified home health aides offer specialized services to help patients stay in their homes. Beebe Home Care Services maintains a close relationship with physicians who treat our patients to make sure that the correct care is being given.

Beebe Home Care Services also has incorporated the Phillips Telehealth monitoring system as a tool into this nurse-driven program to help patients learn how to manage their own illnesses. This technology allows the patient or caregiver to transmit important vital signs regularly via telephone to Beebe Home Care Services office where nurses can look at them. The nurses can then contact a physician if they observe changes in the patient’s condition that require a change in care. The Telehealth system has been especially helpful with chronic diseases such as heart failure and diabetes.

“The team of medical professionals at Beebe Home Care Services is committed to making sure that our patients can remain in their homes as they recuperate from their illnesses,” says Joan Thomas, RN, MS, FACHE, Special Consultant to Beebe Healthcare President and CEO Jeffrey M. Fried. “Our home care nurses, therapists, counselors and nutritionists are skilled and compassionate.  While bringing safe and quality care into the home, they also focus on educating the patient and caregiver so that they learn what to do to help the patient maintain his or her own best quality of life.”

“HomeCare Elite recognition is a significant acknowledgement. The shift from fee-for-service to pay-for-performance payment models is reshaping the healthcare profession. And home health is proving to be an integral part of the continuum. In the face of value-based purchasing and care delivery model changes, the metrics that make up HomeCare Elite methodology shine an accountable light on an industry that may be the lynch pin to achieving affordable care at home,” said Marci Heydt, Product Manager for the post-acute care business group of DecisionHealth.
