Mary J. Davis, true caregiver

January 21, 2014

Mary J. Davis, 79, of Millsboro, formerly of New Castle County, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at her home after a brief illness.

Mary was born in West Chester, Pa. July 19, 1934, daughter of the late Jesse H. and Regina Frances (Brown) Jarrett. She was a true caregiver at heart who always put others first and saw the best in everyone. Mary will be remembered as an avid reader, a generous person, but most importantly a loving mother, nana and friend.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband John Warren Davis Jr.; and a brother, Jesse “Spike” Jarrett. Mary is survived by her two daughters, Patty Mullikin and her husband Charles of Dagsboro and Joanne Williams and her husband Chip of Millsboro; four grandchildren, C.J. Mullikin, Will Mullikin, Dustin Williams and Amanda Williams; special sister-in-law Lucy Davis of Boothwyn, Pa.; a dear cousin, G. Norman Davis of Holladay, Tenn.; many cherished in-laws, nieces and nephews; and her beloved grand-dog Minnie.

In respecting Mary’s wishes a private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Mary’s name to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
