Gayle Hubley, former Consortium educator

Gayle Hubley, 57 of Rehoboth Beach, formerly of Severna Park, Md.,passed away suddenly Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, in Lewes.

Gayle was born in Banbury, England Dec. 8, 1956. Gayle had worked for the Sussex Consortium for autistic children as a para-educator before her disability. Gayle was deeply devoted to her family and friends. She enjoyed writing, painting and was a talented abstract artist. Gayle will be remembered as a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend.

She was preceded in death by her mother June (Taylor) Radler. Gayle is survived by her two children, Michael R. Hubley of Severna Park and Christopher S. Hubley of Rehoboth Beach; her father, Ronald Sobel and his wife Faye of Suffolk, Va.; a brother, Scott T. Sobel and his wife Denise of Leesburg, Va.; two half brothers, David P. Sobel and his wife Sharon of Fairfax, Va. and Andrew M. Goodloe of Los Angeles, Calif.; a stepsister, Blaine Lamonea and her husband Michael of Chesapeake, Va.; a stepbrother, Jason C. Goodloe and his wife Amy of Fairfax, Va.; her two closest friends, Colleen Law of Lewes and Karen Ganc of Lewes; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of Gayle’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends and family may call after noon. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Gayle Hubley Memorial Fund, c/o Gayle Hubley Estate, M&T Bank, 28529 Dupont Blvd, Millsboro, DE 19966.
