Delaware State Police are searching for a man who they say stole golf clubs from the Rehoboth Beach Walmart.

The man entered the Route 1 store at 4 p.m. Jan. 16 with a small child and went to the sporting goods section, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

He put golf clubs in his shopping cart and proceeded to the customer service desk where he returned some items without a receipt, Fournier said.

The man provided identification, which police believe may have been fake, in order to receive a store gift card.

He then purchased some other items, and told the cashier that he tried to return the golf clubs but was denied, Fournier said.

The man left the store without paying for the $100 golf clubs, Fournier said.

Police describe the man as white, 30 to 35 years old, about 5-feet-10-inches tall, with short hair and a full beard.

Anyone with information on the man's whereabouts is asked to call Trooper First Class Cordrey at 302-644-5020, Ext. 209.
