Betty Herrick Trudel, devoted to family

Betty Herrick Trudel, 69, of Lewes, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at Delaware Hospice in Milford.

Betty was born in Seaford, Aug. 7, 1945, to Edward Herrick of Wilmington and Mabel Doughty Herrick of Pungoteague, Va. She graduated from Seaford High School in 1964 and held a bachelor of science degree in business management. She started working for the Delaware National Guard in 1969 and retired in January of 2005 in the position of information management specialist at the Joint Force Headquarters in Wilmington. After retirement she moved to Lewes where she worked part-time as a webmaster for Wright Property Management. She was very active in St. Mark's United Methodist Church while living in Wilmington where she sang in the choir. She transferred her membership to Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach.

Betty is survived by her mother, Mabel Doughty Herrick of Seaford; a sister, Barbara H. Campbell (husband Don) of Dover; two brothers, Bryan Herrick (wife Jimmie Lou) of Sugarland, Texas and Blaine D. Herrick (wife Bunny) of Seaford; seven nieces and nephews; seven grand-nieces and nephews; and numerous friends that she also considered part of her family. Betty was a devoted and caring daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She loved her family and friends with all her heart and will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Herrick, in 1980.

Per Betty's wishes, a private service will be held gravesideThursday, Jan. 30, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.

Arrangements are in the care of Watson-Yates Funeral Home, Seaford.
