Georgetown man arrested after standoff

January 28, 2014

A 43-year-old Georgetown man was arrested Jan. 28 after he barricaded himself and a woman and her four children in a Lincoln home.

The man, whose name has not been released, refused to leave a home in the 8000 block of Railroad Avenue, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

Police received a call at 10:19 p.m. Jan. 27 that the man had barricaded himself inside the home and was possibly armed. He refused to leave the home or let a woman, 33, and her four children, ages 4 months to 13 years old, leave, Fournier said.

At 6:05 a.m. Jan. 28, police entered the home and took the man into custody. He was treated for self-inflicted wounds and taken to a hospital for evaluation, Fournier said. He has not yet been charged, he said.

No nearby homes were evacuated.

Police continue to investigate the incident, Fournier said.
