Kathleen L. Stamus, aspiring actress

Kathleen “Kathy” L. Stamus, 57, passed away from complications from leukemia/lymphoma Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. She was the daughter of the late Louis P. Stamus, formerly of Easton, Pa., and the late Louise Panousos, nee Fotiou, formerly of Reading, Pa.

Born in Allentown, Pa., she was raised in Reading. An aspiring actress, she moved to Philadelphia to pursue an acting career. She won modeling jobs and acting parts in theater and television and worked various side jobs. She was a passionate supporter of animal rights and often rescued stray cats and dogs. She temporarily resided with her Aunt Jean Stamus and cousin Nina Stamus of Rehoboth Beach while receiving medical treatment during her illness. She was a Greek Orthodox Christian.

She is survived by two brothers, George L. Stamus, his wife Belinda, their daughter Alethea, and their granddaughter Avalyse of Reading, and James Panousos, his wife Kristin, and their children Christina and Christopher of Baltimore, Md. She is also survived by many relatives of her extended family.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 31, at the Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may begin visiting at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her honor to any local, no-kill animal shelter or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 100 W. 10th Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
