A 54-year-old Millsboro man who pleaded guilty in November to sexually abusing a child for four years was sentenced Jan. 24 to 20 years in prison.

James D. Ross was indicted in June after a Millsboro Middle School student told a school counselor that she was a victim of sexual abuse, said Jason Miller, spokesman for the Attorney General's Office.

Ross pleaded guilty to second-degree rape and continuous sexual abuse of a child in Sussex County Superior Court, where Judge E. Scott Bradley sentenced Ross to 20 years in prison.
