High school seniors: Apply for Science Camp scholarships by Feb. 28

January 31, 2014

Delaware has the opportunity to send two 2014 high school graduates to West Virginia this summer to attend the National Youth Science Camp on full scholarships.

The 3 1/2-week experience, June 27 to July 20, includes lectures and hands-on research projects presented by scientists from across the nation, overnight expeditions into the Monongahela National Forest and a visit to the nation’s capital. The selected delegates must demonstrate academic achievement in science and show potential for thoughtful scientific leadership.

The NYSC experience is offered at no cost to participants so selected delegates may attend regardless of their financial status. Educational and recreational programming, as well as meals, lodging, and round-trip airfare are covered. This is possible thanks to contributions to the National Youth Science Foundation.

The application period runs until Friday, Feb. 28. Applicants must commit to the entire NYSC time. Application packets are available at www.nysc.org. For questions regarding the application procedures and/or general information about the program, contact John Moyer, Delaware Department of Education NYSC program coordinator, at john.moyer@doe.k12.de.us.
