Milton police arrested a 47-year-old Milton man Jan. 28 after they say he raped a young woman in a portable latrine at Milton Memorial Park.

Steven Hickman was at Milton Memorial Park at about 4:30 p.m. Jan. 27 when he made up a reason for the woman, 19, of Milton, who has intellectual disabilities, to go to the portable latrine, said Capt. John Cornwell of the Milton Police Department.

Inside the latrine, Hickman raped and assaulted the woman, Cornwell said. Afterwards, the woman was taken to Beebe Healthcare where she was treated and released.

Hickman was charged with second-degree rape, tampering with physical evidence, unlawfully administering drugs, unlawful sexual contact and indecent exposure.

He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $22,000 secured bond. He is held on an extra $10,000 cash for a Family Court capias.
