Warren Pettyjohn, farmer, bus contractor

Warren O. Pettyjohn, 85, of Georgetown passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford.

Warren was born in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of the late Otwell and Anna (Warren) Pettyjohn.

He was a self-employed farmer and bus contractor for over 50 years. He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church. He was a member of Franklin Lodge 12 A.F. & A.M., Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Nur Temple Shriners, Sussex Pines Country Club, Indian River Yacht Club, Midland Grange, American Legion Post 38 in Laurel and the Milton VFW Post 6984.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lettye Gaye Pettyjohn; and a daughter, Betty Jo Pettyjohn.

He is survived by his brother, Ray Pettyjohn and sister-in-law Barbara of Georgetown; nephew Mark Pettyjohn of Milton, niece, Kelly Malone of Camden, nephew, Brian Pettyjohn of Georgetown, cousin, Wilmer Hunter, Wilmington; four grandchildren, Joanna Rivers, Edward Bunn, Debbie Wegner and Mary Ellen Vanover; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 7, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.
