Dale R. Magee, Cape maintenance man

Dale R. Magee went into the arms of the Lord peacefully Sunday Feb. 2, 2014, surrounded by his family.

Dale was born to the late William H. Magee Sr. and Louella Hall Nov. 26, 1935, in Fenwick Island. Dale is retired from the Cape Henlopen School District where he served as grounds keeper and maintenance for 22 years. Before that, he was a diesel mechanic for H&H Poultry and self-employed at Sea Dog bait and tackle on Love Creek Bridge. Dale enjoyed fishing, crabbing, clamming, cutting grass and lying in his hammock.

Dale is survived by his wife of 52 years, Harriett Q. Magee; his son, Dale W. Magee; and granddaughter Alexandra N. Magee; as well as his niece Michelle Ward; four brothers; and three sisters. Dale leaves behind many other family members and many friends.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends may call after 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Dale's name to Compassionate Care Hospice, 28467 DuPont Blvd., Unit 6 Suite 6, Millsboro, DE 19966.
