A 20-year-old Rehoboth Beach man faces charges after police say he robbed the DOT Discount Cigarettes Feb. 4.
At 6:12 p.m., Dennis Parkstone entered the store at 19108 Coastal Highway, Rehoboth Beach, wearing a knit cap and hood over his head and a dark mask that partially covered his face, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.
He approached two women working behind the counter - one 26 and the other 29 - and gave them a note demanding cash, and implied he had a gun, Fournier said.
The women gave him an undisclosed amount of money and he fled toward South Street, Fournier said.
Neither victims were injured; they provided a detailed description of the man.
At 7:45 p.m., a trooper patrolling South Street saw a man who matched the robber's description standing outside a home in the 35000 block, Fournier said.
Parkstone was charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $35,000 cash bond.
