February 13, 2014

The Possum Point Players are seeking directors for their 2015 season.

Interested directors should obtain director’s applications from Jim Hartzell at jlhart8@mchsi.com, or 302-856-6166 or 302-381-4898. Directors will be chosen for the following shows and approximate time frames for 2015:

Winter Comedy: "Almost, Maine" by John Cariani is about a town that is almost not in the United States, almost in Canada, and almost doesn’t exist. Its residents never got organized. So it’s just…Almost. One winter night, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in the strangest ways. And life for the people of Almost will never be the same.

Spring Dinner Theater: "Leading Ladies" by Ken Ludwig is a comedy about two English Shakespearean actors so down on their luck, they are performing "Scenes from Shakespeare" on the Moose Lodge circuit in the Amish country of Pennsylvania. When they hear that an old lady in York, Pa., is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long lost English nephews, they resolve to pass themselves off as her beloved relatives and get the cash. The trouble is, when they get to York, they find out the relatives aren't nephews, but nieces.

Summer Drama: "To Kill A Mockingbird" by Harper Lee is the widely acclaimed story of Atticus Finch, a lawyer in the Depression-era South who defends a black man, Tom Robinson, against an undeserved rape charge, and cautions his kids, Scout and Gem, against prejudice.

Fall Musical: "Hairspray," with music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, and book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, is a family-friendly musical piled bouffant high with laughter, romance, and deliriously tuneful songs. It's 1962 in Baltimore, and the lovable plus-size teen Tracy Turnblad has only one desire - to dance on the popular "Corny Collins Show."

Christmas Show: "The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge" by Mark Brown tells the story of Ebeneezer Scrooge, a year after his miraculous transformation, who is back to his old ways and suing Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future for breaking and entering, kidnapping, slander, pain and suffering, attempted murder and the intentional infliction of emotional distress. The ghosts employ Solomon Rothschild, England's most charismatic, savvy, and clever barrister.

Possum Point Players is supported, in part, by grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
