William 'Jim' Bretz, retired HVAC contractor

William “Jim” J. Bretz, 80, of Millsboro, passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Beebe Healthcare, Lewes. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa. Aug. 30, 1933, son of the late Harry and Theresa (Holland) Bretz.

Mr. Bretz proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He resided most of his lifetime in the Delaware and Chester counties of Pennsylvania. Mr. Bretz was self-employed as an HVAC contractor and enjoyed many years serving his clients. He and his wife Dorothy relocated to Sussex County seven years ago. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bretz was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Dorothy nee Cugini; three sons, Robert Bretz and Daniel Bretz of Delaware County and William Bretz of Millsboro; one daughter, Maureen Bretz and her fiancé Alvin L. Aubinoe III of Potomac, Md.; six grandchildren, Brian Bretz-Sciarra; Brandon Bretz-Sciarra; Amanda Bretz; JR Dively; Angela Dively and Nicholas Dively; five great-grandchildren, Ella Maria, Noah, Sophia, Xavier and Leoni; one sister; and his devoted canine companion, Pugs Lee.

Interment will be at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. All services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
