Henlopen City Oyster House hosted a fundraiser for Epworth UMC Skate Project Jan. 19. “We were happy to be able to help,” said restaurant owner Chris Bisaha.

“Board sports like surfing, skimboarding, and skateboarding are so popular in our area. The kids really need a place to skate,” said co-owner Joe Baker.

The event was well attended and raised $800. The Skate Project started raising money in August 2013 to construct a concrete skate park at Epworth UM Church on Holland Glade Road in Rehoboth. The group is steadily working toward its goal of $75,000. “Community support has been fabulous,” said Skate Project member Tricia Ratner. “We are still seeking sponsors at this time.”
