2014 vegetarian celebration expands into three-day event
February 15, 2014

VegRehoboth announces the Second Annual Rehoboth Beach VegFest will take place Friday-Sunday, June 13-15, as an area-wide celebration. Newly expanded this year into a three-day event, VegFest celebrates how easy and delicious it is to choose vegetarian foods, and explores their many benefits to human health, the animals and the planet.

2014 Rehoboth VegFest kicks off at 1 p.m., Friday, June 13, with a vegetarian tasting tour of some of Rehoboth’s best restaurants, hosted by Eating Rehoboth. Friday evening features a Celebration Dinner at event sponsor Hobos Restaurant and Bar, followed by the Delaware premiere screening of award-winning documentary "The Ghosts in Our Machine" at the Atlantic Sands Hotel.

The free outdoor festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, June 14, at Epworth United Methodist Church on Holland Glade Road north of Rehoboth. This activity-packed day features inspiring speakers, cooking demonstrations, free food samples, dozens of national and local exhibitors, kids' activities, nutrition tent, recipes, and area food vendors. Saturday night Rehoboth VegFest events feature happy hour and dinner specials at local restaurants with more delicious vegetarian food.

Nage Restaurant continues the festivities Sunday, June 15, with a Vegan Brunch including several of the VegFest speakers. Also on Sunday is a 5K event for veg runners to run with Team Rehoboth VegFest, and a special Stroll/Walk for the Farm Animals.

"It's so exciting to have Rehoboth Beach VegFest expanded into a weekend-long celebration," says Patricia Haddock, VegRehoboth president and VegFest cofounder. "We envisioned that from the onset, and to see it happening this year demonstrates just how much interest there is in plant-based eating. VegFest is such a winning, positive event for our whole community - and who can resist all that delicious food!"

Sponsorship, exhibitor, and volunteer applications are being accepted now. To sign up, and for details, go to www.rehobothvegfest.org.
