Lester H. Brown Sr., DOC retiree

Lester H. Brown Sr. was born Jan. 28, 1941, to the late Isaac Brown and Reba Jarmon Massey and peacefully entered into eternal rest Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at 7:17 p.m. at Delaware Hospice in Milford.

Lester attended the Delaware school system, including William C. Jason High School. He entered the Army, serving two years. He also served 30 years in the National Guard before retiring. During his years of service in the National Guard, Lester received several plaques and awards for his faithful service.

Lester was employed and retired from the Department of Corrections in Georgetown in 2005 after serving 30 years.

Lester met Corrine A. Adams in 1968 and they were wed Sept. 29, 1973. With this union they had two sons, Andre D. Brown and Dion M. Brown. Lester enjoyed spending time with his family and friends watching various sports on television. He was an avid football fan, college and professional, and he enjoyed traveling to attend these sporting events. He also enjoyed motorsports, drag racing and NASCAR racing. Lester was a very kind soul and he will truly be missed by hi s loved ones.

He leaves to mourn his wife of 40 years Corrine A. Brown; three sons, Lester H. Brown Jr., Andre DeAngelo Brown (Phyllis) of Newark, and Dion Maurice Brown (Sherra) of Laurel; one adopted son, Sam Jones of Coverdale; two brothers, Jack Jarmon (Beatrice) of Delmar, Md. and James Jarmon (Mabel) of Berlin, Md; four granddaughters, Tiffany, Desire, Ayana and Noelle; two great-grand-daughters, JaZiya and Jaciana; one uncle, Pearlis Jarmon; a host of nieces, nephews. and cousins; and five very special friends, Ross Rogers, Clem Jordan, Richard Miller, James Snead and Elwood Hemmeain Sr.

Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, at Calvary Pentecostal Church Inc. 13325 Worcester Highway, Bishopville. Friends may call two hours prior.
