The Rehoboth Beach Boys & Girls Club recently welcomed a new staff member, John Ragonese. Ragonese graduated from Delaware State University in 2012 with a degree in music education. A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., he recently moved to Sussex County.

Maria Edgerton, club director, said, “We are very lucky to have such a caring, talented, mature young man working with our kids.”

Mr. John, as he is known at the club, said he is really excited to be a part of the team at the club. “I love the energy that the children have. I have a real passion for kids and music,” he said. He said he is very impressed with the staff, the positive environment, and the high expectations set for all members and staff at the club. “The staff are goal-oriented and have the best interests of the kids in mind,” Ragonese said.

Starting in March, Ragonese will integrate music as part of the enrichment program at the Rehoboth Beach Boys & Girls Club. He said, “Music has been proven to help students perform better in school and on standardized tests. Music also teaches social skills, like being part of a team.”

In his spare time, Ragonese enjoys performing locally for all types of audiences. He plays the saxophone with the band Over Time.
