D. Elinore Scott, church organist

D. Elinore Scott, 82 of Millville went home to be with the Lord Friday, Feb. 14, 2014. She was born Feb. 2, 1932, in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of Doreen and Clarence Davis.

Elinore graduated from John Bartram High School in Philadelphia in 1950. Elinore married her beloved husband William K. Scott Jr. in October of 1950. Elinore and Bill formerly resided in Glenolden, Pa., while Elinore worked for General Electric in Philadelphia. In 1956, Elinore and Bill moved to Millville.

Elinore’s caring demeanor touched many individuals while employed by Dr. Richard A. Peoples in Selbyville and Dr. Charles A. Parnell-King in Bethany Beach. She also worked for the Indian River School District as a secretary for many years, retiring from the Lord Baltimore Elementary School in Ocean View in 1992. Elinore was a member of St. Martin’s In-The-Field Episcopal Church in Selbyville, where she contributed her musical talents as an organist. She also was a member of the Ocean View Church of Christ in Ocean View, where she continued to share her love of music by playing the organ.

Elinore is survived by her husband of 63 years, William; one son, Douglas and his wife Patricia of Millville; two grandchildren: Andrea M. Scott of Orlando, Fla. and Amos B. Scott of Annapolis, Md.; two stepgrandchildren, Nadene N. Hitch of Norristown, Pa. and Carrie A. Rambo of Frankford; and one stepgreat-grandchild, Kaylei N. Kahoe of Frankford.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Feb. 20, at noon, at the Ocean View Church of Christ, 55 West Ave., Ocean View. A visitation for friends and family is from 11 a.m. to noon.
