February 17, 2014

The wife of a man killed in a single-car crash Feb. 7 north of Milton has died from injuries received during that accident.

Ruth A. Moore, 45, of Milton who was riding in a 1991 Buick LeSabre driven by her husband, Charles E. Moore Jr., 51, died Feb. 16 from injuries she sustained after Charles crashed the car, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

Fournier said Moore was speeding northbound on Cedar Creek Road just south of Isaacs Road when he tried to negotiate a left curve. The Buick ran off the right side of the roadway, and Moore overcorrected, sending the vehicle across the southbound lanes and off the west side of the roadway while rotating counterclockwise. The right rear side of the LeSabre struck a utility pole, completely severing the rear portion of the car. The front portion of the car began to spin violently clockwise ejecting both Moore and Ruth although both were properly restrained.

Charles Moore was pronounced dead at the scene. Ruth Moore was initially transported to Milford Memorial Hospital but was later flown to Christiana Medical Center.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation into this incident.
