Rehoboth Beach Running Company moves

March 10, 2014

The store with all the shoes a runner needs is on the move itself.

Rehoboth Beach Running Company has moved to the Shops at The Cultured Pearl, 301 Rehoboth Ave.

Owner Mary Beth Evans said Pearl owners Robert and Susan Wood told her of the space opening and she decided to jump at it after seven years next to Catchers on Rehoboth Avenue.

“I thought it was an exciting place to be. It will kind of be fun to be with other shops and there is a lot of foot traffic in here from Starbucks. I just thought it would be a nice change,” she said.

Evans, an avid runner and triathlete, said she opened the store to fill a need for a running store in Rehoboth. The store sells mainly running shoes from Asics, Brooks, Mizuno and Saucony as well as running apparel and some triathlon gear, she said. The store can also provide a complimentary foot gait analysis for customers purchasing new running shoes. A runner for 20 years, Evans has five marathons under her belt.

While the space is the same size as the old location, Evans said the new store is more open with higher ceilings. Evans said she might do more events at the Cultured Pearl when races come to town. The new store opened on Valentine’s Day, although Evans said there would be a grand reopening Friday, March 7, with food provided by the Cultured Pearl.

“I’m looking forward to a more open space. I like being connected to other storeowners. It’s fun seeing more people all day long,” Evans said.

The store is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 12-5 p.m. Sundays.
