Roberta Fessenbecker, owned art studio

Roberta Hazel Fessenbecker, 84 of Lewes, passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, with her son and beloved pet Millie by her side. She was born Nov. 7, 1929, in Woodbury, N.J., daughter of the late Edward James and Hazel Mae Phillips of Chester, Pa.

Roberta retired in 1997 and relocated from West Chester to the Rehoboth Beach resort area. She enjoyed a 15-year career with FMC Corporation in Kennett Square, Pa. as a shop foreman, responsible for electrical motor winding. Roberta also enjoyed a second career for 12 years as a kitchen manager for Canteen Corporation at Fugett Middle School in West Chester.

Roberta was an admirer of all arts and crafts and would soon operate her own art studio. Here for the next 20 years, she would teach china painting and porcelain artwork. Roberta was president of World Organization of China Painters for many years.

While living in Pennsylvania, Roberta was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in West Chester. After relocating to the Rehoboth Beach area, she became a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior.

In addition to her parents, Roberta was preceded in death by her first husband, Will Halverson; a son, Lloyd Halverson; a sister, Kathleen Moore; a stepson, Frederick J. Fessenbecker Jr.; and her husband of 49 years, Frederick J. Fessenbecker Sr. She is survived by her son: Ernest J. Fessenbecker of Lewes; a brother, Edward Phillips of Claymont; and her beloved pet terrier, Millie.

All services are private.

Memorial contributions may be made in Roberta’s memory to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
