ABTB Treasures or Trash Show a success

March 2, 2014

On behalf of the Women’s Group at Angola by the Bay, I would like to thank all those who participated in our very successful Treasures or Trash antique road show held Feb. 21 at our clubhouse. We raised over $1,600 in support of a scholarship for a local teen.

Charlene Upham and Steve Blumenaur of Charlene Upham Antiques donated their time to carefully examine hundreds of items brought in by local residents. We can’t thank them enough for their time, expertise and patience. We look forward to having them again as do all who attended.

A silent auction was also held, supported by local businesses that provided gift certificates; they include Arena's, Bethany Blues, Big Fish Grill, The Brick, The Buttery, Casapullas, Cultured Pearl, Edible Arrangements, Fins, Georgetown Family Restaurant, The Georgia House, Henlopen City Oyster House, Irish Eyes, Mariachi, Ocean Grill, Pickled Pig Pub, Rehoboth Ale House, Robin Hood Restaurant, Rose and Crown, 1776 Steakhouse, Striper Bites, Summerhouse, Villa Sorrento, Giant Food and Deanna’s. Baywood Green provided a round of golf. We thank them all, without their support we could not have achieved our goal.

Refreshments donated by members of the Women’s Group were enjoyed by all. They included a wide assortment of sandwiches and baked goods. My personal thanks go to group members who helped plan, advertise and run the event with special thanks to our President Chris Gambler who secured nearly all the gift certificates, an effort which took many hours over many days.

Without the support of the community at large who came with items to appraise, our fundraiser would not have been a success. We thank each and everyone and hope they enjoyed the experienced and return for our fifth annual event next year.
