Linda Powell Howell, 73, of Kitty Hawk, N.C. died Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born Oct. 18, 1940, in Woodland, N.C. to the late William Cecil, and Dorothy Bridgers Powell, and was the loving wife of William “Bill” Howell for 50 years.
Linda graduated from Woodland Olney High School in 1959, and then went to Louise Obici School of Nursing, graduating in 1962 as a registered nurse. She was a member of the Woodland United Methodist Church, loved to read and do crossword puzzles, but most of all she loved her family and the time she spent with them.
Left to cherish the memory of her kindness, her wonderful sense of humor, and her beautiful eyes and smile are her husband Bill; her sons, Jeff Howell and fiancé Ada, of Dover, and Mike Howell and wife Terri of San Diego, Calif.; her daughter, Lynn Rowell and her husband Kevin of Chesapeake, Va.; her sister, Jean Powell Bryant and her husband Edward, of Woodland; her five grandchildren, Brandon, Zach, Hunter, Ellie, and Eryn; and her great-grandson Brady. She was predeceased by her brother William Keith Powell.
A memorial service will be held at Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church, on Saturday, March 1, at 2 p.m. A service at the Woodland United Methodist Church will be held at a later date.
