A 24-year-old Lewes man faces murder charges in connection with the death of a Georgetown man whose body was found by police in an apartment building vestibule.
Teveya W. Brittingham was charged with first-degree murder and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution where he will be held without bail, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.
Police received a call at 3 a.m. Feb. 23 about a man dead or injured in the vestibule of Dunbarton Apartments in Georgetown. The body of Cornelius J. Henry, 43, was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which determined his death was a homicide caused by blunt force trauma to the head and neck, Fournier said.
A trail led police from the crime scene to an apartment where they found Brittingham inside. Brittingham had a significant amount of blood on the lower portion of his pants and sneakers, Fournier said.
Police held Brittingham for violation of probation before charging him with murder, Fournier said.
