Salvatore Apicelli, retired math teacher

Salvatore A. Apicelli, 78, of Lewes, formerly of Hackettstown, N.J., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes.

Mr. Apicelli was born in Newark, N.J., son of the late Alfonso and Concetta (Napurano) Apicelli. Sal retired as a high school math teacher for Morris Knolls High School in Denville, N.J. in 1994 after 25 years of service. During his tenure as a teacher, Sal was also a freshman football coach.

Sal was a member of the Morris County Retired Education Association, a member of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church in Schooleys Mountain, N.J. and St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewes. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his loving wife, children and grandchildren.

Sal is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carol Anne (Voros) Apicelli; three children, Michael Apicelli of Hackettstown, Donna Marie (Robert) Penna of Belvidere, N.J. and Lisa Anne (“Tony”) Rosano of Belvidere, N.J.; and seven grandchildren, Jessica Rosano, Kaitlyn Penna, Allyson Penna, Kimberly Rosano, Daniel Penna, Nicole Rosano and Joseph Rosano.

A memorial Mass will be held at a later date in New Jersey.
