The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a two vehicle crash that occurred Feb. 27, sending one man to a hospital.
The incident occurred around 2 p.m. as Steven E. Jester Jr. was operating a 2002 Hyundai Accent eastbound on John J. Williams Highway approximately a quarter mile west of Mulberry Knoll Road. For unknown reasons, the Hyundai was traveling in the westbound lane at the same time a 2006 Ford F250 pickup truck was traveling westbound on Route 24 approaching the vehicle. The operator of the truck, Raymond E. Conrad Jr., attempted to avoid the Accent by swerving to the right and onto the shoulder where the front left corners of both vehicles impacted. After the collision, the pickup truck overturned onto its roof into the grassy shoulder where it came to a stop. The Hyundai continued eastbound and rotated counter-clockwise before coming to a stop in the eastbound lanes.
Steven Jester, who was properly restrained, was transported from the scene by Trooper 2 and flown to Christiana Hospital where he is currently admitted with non-life-threatening injuries.
Raymond Conrad was also properly restrained and was slightly injured, but refused on-scene medical attention.
The investigation is on-going and charges are pending. Route 24 was closed for approximately 90 minutes while the crash was investigated and cleared.
