Susan Lunsford, retired loan officer

Susan G. Lunsford, 58, of Bethany Beach, formerly of Woodbridge, Va., passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2013, after a courageous 12-year battle with breast cancer. She was born Jan. 18, 1956, in Washington, D.C., daughter of the late Julius and Roslyn (Frieband) Marcus.

Sue, as she was known to all, was a 1974 graduate of Potomac High School in Oxon Hill, Md. She continued her education attending courses in finance. Sue began her finance career working with several car dealerships in the Washington, D.C. area; Stohlman Automotive, Pohanka Auto Group and Karen-Radley Acura Volkswagon were among those she worked with. Sue would later become a loan officer with Mortgage Capital also in Washington, D.C.

She relocated to the Bethany Beach area in 2011 after spending 20-plus years as a weekender in the area. Sue was an avid gardener, enjoying all types of gardening, from flowers to vegetables. Sue loved entertaining family and friends in her home, spending time laughing and enjoying conversations. Sue was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to all.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Dallas, TX 75244, or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
