Sussex County Democrats gather at Expo

The Sussex County Democratic Party gathered at its first Democratic Expo March 1-2 in Georgetown and Lewes with hundreds of people attending both days. The purpose of the event was to introduce Democrats to the many flourishing Democratic clubs and organizations in Sussex County.
Mardi Gras was the theme, with Cajun music, beaded necklaces, Mardi Gras King Cake and non-alcoholic "hurricanes." U.S. Sen. Chris Coons, U.S. Congressman John Carney, Speaker of the Delaware House of Representatives Pete Schwartzkopf and State Sen. Bob Venables were among the many elected officials and candidates present. The Democrats used the event to kick off the 2014 election season.
