Ethel B. Jones, Safeway retiree

Ethel B. Jones, 85, of Laurel, passed away peacefully Monday, March 3, 2014, at the home of her daughter in Laurel. She was born in Lewes May 13, 1928, daughter of the late Marshall David and Cynthia Mae (Moore) Morgan. She was preceded in death by her husband Joshua James Jones in 1979.

Mrs. Jones had worked for many years as a meat wrapper and weigher for the Safeway Food Stores. She was a life member of the Blades Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the beach and was an avid NASCAR fan with her favorite driver being Dale Earnhardt Jr.

She is survived by her eight children: Janet B. Tyndall and husband Russell of Georgetown, James D. Jones and wife Ethel of Millsboro, Sandra L. McGeehan-Dekker and significant other Gary A. Malletz of Laurel, R. Jay Jones of Allentown, Pa., Debby Riddle of Laurel, Patti Wilson and husband Bob of Georgetown, Dawn Benton of Laurel and Guy A. Jones and significant other Sue Frawley of Delmar, Md.; two sisters, Edith Nobles of Laurel and Betty Warrington and husband Harvey of Redden.; 21 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 8, at 2 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford Street, Georgetown, where friends may call Friday. March 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will follow the services at Union Cemetery, Georgetown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blades Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, 200 E. Fifth Street, Blades, DE 19973.
