Lewes man charged in Milton burglary

March 6, 2014

A 44-year-old Lewes man faces charges after police say he burglarized a Milton home.

Police arrested Todd H. Archino on March 5 after the homeowner arrived at the 14000 block of Coastal Highway property around 1 p.m. and found a pickup truck backed up to the rear of the property, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

Archino was standing outside the home with a small hatchet in his rear pocket, Fournier said.

Police discovered Archino had burglarized the home Feb. 25 when he removed an upright freezer, a refrigerator and a stove – all of which were sold to Donovan's Salvage as scrap, Fournier said.

Fournier said Archino stole tools from a shed; police searched Archino's home and found clothing, kitchen appliances, jewelry and a World War I gas mask that belonged to the 59-year-old homeowner.

Archino was charged with two counts of second-degree burglary, third-degree burglary, two counts of possession of burglar tools, three counts of theft, selling stolen property and criminal mischief.

Archino was released on $16,500 unsecured bond.
