Franklin R. Marsh, enjoyed farming

March 7, 2014

Franklin R. Marsh, 81, of Lewes, went home to be with his loved ones and the Lord Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. He was born Jan. 4, 1933, in Lewes, son of the late Charles A. and Naomi Johnson Marsh.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife Ann in 1994; two brothers, Willard and Joseph Marsh; and his sister Pauline Revel.

Mr. Marsh enjoyed farming his entire life and especially working Ann's Produce Stand on Angola Road where many of his homegrown delicacies were offered. He and his late wife Ann had begun the store many years ago. After Ann’s passing he continued the stand with his daughter Louise as a tribute to Ann until his passing. He will also be fondly remembered by many area students as the perfect bus driver, a position he held for 35 years with the Cape Henlopen School District.

Tony Stewart was his driver in the NASCAR circuit and watching "American Pickers" as well as splitting wood were favorite pastimes. However, his most enjoyable moments were when people would stop by to talk and learn from him the history of a lifetime of farming which he shared with his brother Willard (Bill).

He is survived by his devoted daughter Louise Donaway Marsh of Lewes; a sister, Joan Baker and husband Charles of Lewes; a sister-in-law, Sandra D. Hoebee and husband Robert of Milton; several nieces and nephews; Patricia and husband  the Rev. David Landers of Clearwater, Fla., Byron Revel and wife Pam of Nicholasville, Ky., Lisa Carmean and husband Richard of Milford, Mark Baker and wife Laurie of Milford, Shawnn Hudson and husband Jerry of Milton, Karen Foery and husband Nick of Nassau, Kristen Eldridge and husband Paul of Meredith, N.H.; and many extended family and wonderfully faithful friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 10, at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow the services at the Conley's Chapel Cemetery, Lewes.

Memorial contributions may be made to Groome United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 299, Lewes, DE 19958, to Conley's United Methodist Church, 33106 Jolyns Way, Lewes, DE 19958, or to your favorite charity of choice.
