Writers' Guild to host Songs & Stories March 18

Event at Dogfish Head in Rehoboth is free
March 11, 2014

The Rehoboth Beach Writers’ Guild will host a night of Songs & Stories from 7 to about 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 18, at Dogfish Head Brewings and Eats on Rehoboth Avenue in Rehoboth Beach. The event is free.

Songs & Stories features a pairing of live music performed by Stuart Vining and Amy Felker with one-of-a-kind short literary readings performed by local writers.  The writers are given the challenge, prior to the event, to write a poem, brief essay or story (under 300 words) using the titles of the songs Stuart and Amy will perform. This Tuesday, there will be writings about “The Games People Play” followed by a performance of that song, writings about “Sweet Dreams,” followed by a performance, etc.  The night is a mix of stories - sad, funny, and nostalgic - and music, all connected through key words.

Vining performs regularly with Big Hat No Cattle at Irish Eyes and has been performing regularly with Felker, owner of The Lewes Bake Shoppe and Notting Hill Coffee Roastery on Second Street in Lewes, for more than five years. The writers’ guild has been hosting monthly readings and music nights for eight years.
