CHHS donates money to American Heart Association

March 17, 2014

Cape Henlopen High School hosted the Second Annual Red Out game to benefit cardiovascular disease research for the American Heart Association on Feb. 14. The boys' basketball team hosted Sussex Tech during the Red Out.

Prior to the game, CHHS Nursing Program coordinator Linda Sapienza had her CNA students provide free blood-pressure screenings, and Beebe Healthcare performed free cholesterol checks.

Students from the Cape Leo Club helped sell red Get Fired Up T-shirts for the AHA. Many students and fans wore the T-shirts during the game. CHHS was able to donate $1,020.50 to the American Heart Association. Mike Connors, physical education teacher, said, “The Red Out was a great event, and we hope to double our donation for next year.”
