Deadline for Rehoboth VFW Post 7447 scholarship applications April 25

March 11, 2014

Rehoboth VFW Post 7447 will award four $500 cash scholarships this year. At least two will go to seniors at Cape Henlopen High School. Another can go to any high school senior, including one who is home-schooled. The fourth will go specifically to a graduating senior of any high school or a college student who is a son, daughter, stepson or stepdaughter, grandchild, niece or nephew of a VFW Post 7447 member, including Men's and Ladies' Auxiliary.

Should the Post Scholarship Committee find no deserving applicants, the post reserves the right to issue no awards.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal residents and use the form provided by the post. Applications must be typewritten. Photocopies of academic transcripts from ninth grade to date of submission must be included. Photocopies of SAT, CEEB and ACT test scores or related equivalent documents must also be included.

In addition to application forms and copies of transcripts, students should include summaries about themselves, their family, plans for the future, career objectives and goals, and activities starting in high school.

The deadline is noon, Friday, April 25, but applications from Cape Henlopen High School seniors must be delivered to the school's guidance office by Friday, April 18.

Contact VFW Chairman John Barlow at 302-227-1466 or 302-245-9741 to obtain the application form, specific criteria, and answers to questions.
