As the newest addition in Peddler's Village shopping center, Enchanted Petals florist and gift shop owner Josh Fredo said he plans to organize events that will make the center a shopping destination.

The first of these events Fredo planned was a grand opening celebration with live music, door prizes and refreshments March 15.

"We are an eclectic floral shop, with a wide variety of tastes from around the world," Fredo said to introduce the new shop, where he said hot water is always on for tea with his customers while they shop his gift items such as fair-trade jewelry, candles, teapots, bonsai plants or wind chimes.

Enchanted Petals offers flower arrangements, containers and delivery as part of a network of florists, he said, in addition to special workshops and classes after-hours that pursue other creative interests.

With special promotions like Tarot Tuesday, a monthly arrangement to benefit charities (this month a portion of proceeds benefit wolf education and rescue), metaphysical and floral arrangement classes and a piano along the wall for live music, Enchanted Petals isn't the everyday flower shop.

Fredo said his next big event will be the start of a monthly promotion called First Fridays.

Beginning Friday April 4, the florist said shoppers who come to Peddler’s Village will be treated to special events, live music and promotions in all participating retailers on the first Friday night of each month.

Once Enchanted Petals becomes more established and his storefront business begins to rival his thriving online floral arrangement sales, Fredo said he hopes to expand the unorthodox floral and gift shop’s reach, already thinking about locations in Kent and New Castle counties.

For now, Fredo said he believes his location in Peddler's Village to be a winner.

"This location has a lot of traffic from summer visitors and stays busy year-round from the residential developments," he said.
