Margaret Ann Slack, Social Security retiree

Margaret Ann Slack, 66 of Georgetown passed away Friday, March 14, 2014, at her residence. She was born April 2, 1947, in Baltimore, Md., daughter of the late James P. and Edith E. (Imhoff) Carr.

Margaret was a graduate of the Seton High School in Baltimore. Margaret retired in 2002 after 39 years of service with the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn, Md. as a social insurance specialist and relocated from the Carroll County area of Maryland to Georgetown. She enjoyed her time with the Social Security Administration, especially the opportunities to travel abroad during her career.

Margaret enjoyed her summers at the beach, reading and crocheting where she would make afghans for the Children and Families First of Georgetown. For many years she also spent her time mentoring at Georgetown Elementary. She especially enjoyed spending time camping and fishing with her late husband Earl Slack Jr. and family. She also toured the United States on motorcycle with her Earl.

In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her sister, Geraldine M. Shepherd. She is survived by her sister, Mary McCarty of Georgetown; stepson Eric L. Slack of New Windsor, Md.; nephews John McCarty of Georgetown and Jeremiah Slack of Owings Mills, Md.; aunt and uncle Patricia and Alfred Nulph of Chester, Md.; mother-in-law Thekla Slack of Belair, Md.; brothers-in-law Paul Slack of Clarksville, Md., Ray Shepherd of Baltimore and Timothy McCarty of Ellicott City, Md.; sister-in-law, Shari Pratt of Clarksville; and numerous cousins.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, March 21, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford St. Georgetown, where friends may visit beginning at 2 p.m. Interment is private.

Memorial contributions may be made in Margaret’s memory to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
