Seaside Jewish Community to present 'My Promised Land' March 23

March 18, 2014

Seaside Jewish Community will present a DVD, “My Promised Land: The Tragedy and Triumph of Israel,” starting at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 23.

The DVD showing, a discussion and refreshments will be held at Seaside, 18970 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach.

The program is part of the Live from New York City's 92nd Street Y series.

“My Promised Land" deals with Ari Shavit’s recently published and widely reviewed book. Shavit, a widely respected Haaretz senior correspondent, is a fourth-generation Israeli who is firmly committed to a strong Jewish state. New York Times reporter Tom Friedman calls Shavit “one of a handful of experts whom I’ve relied upon to understand Israel ever since I reported there in the 1980s.”

In the 92Y film, Shavit joins NY Times editor David Remnick for an incisive analysis of the Jewish state’s history and its prospects for the future. Shavit delivers a stunning analysis and a very bold recommendation for Israelis and Palestinians. Remnick is the author of several books, including “King of the World,” “Resurrection,” and “Lenin’s Tomb."

This program is free and open to the community. Seaside is handicapped accessible.
