Betty M. Moore, Eddie Saff manager

Betty M. Moore, 88, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, March 15, 2014.

Betty was born in Ocean City, Md., in 1925, to the late Ernest and Elisha Hastings. After graduating high school, she attended Goldey Beacom College in Wilmington before meeting her husband Reuben and moving to Rehoboth Beach in 1945. Betty was a fixture on Rehoboth Avenue for over 40 years, where she managed Eddie Saff Linen Shop, seller of linens, children’s clothes and fine china.

She loved to take her lunch and sit on a bench on the Boardwalk, enjoying the ocean or people watching. Betty loved her friends and family, and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed traveling in the winter months, reading and playing bridge with her monthly bridge group. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church for more than 65 years and a member of the Beebe Hospital Auxiliary.

She was predeceased by her husband, Reuben Moore and her granddaughter, Megan Workman. She is survived by her son, William E. Moore and his wife Jane of Lewes; her granddaughter, Jennifer Swingle and her husband Scott of Rehoboth Beach; a great-grandson, Jeffrey Workman of Frankford; her niece, Beverlee DeLuca and her husband Jim of Berwyn, Pa.; and her nephew, Lionel Lyons and his wife Jean of Selbyville. She also has many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, March 21, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach, where friends may call starting at 10 a.m. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Berlin, Md., at 3:30 p.m., Friday.

Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding, PO Box 219, Nassau, DE 19969, or Epworth United Methodist Church.
